Following a hearing in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Haryana government has immediately suspended all new approvals for Stilt+4 residential buildings across the state. Authorities have also been directed not to accept or process any fresh applications until further orders.
New Gurugram: The Haryana government has once again paused all new approvals for Stilt+4 residential buildings across the state. The decision follows a recent hearing in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, where the court said that no fresh approvals should be issued until further directions.
Soon after the hearing, the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department, Haryana, released an order asking all concerned authorities to stop approving new Stilt+4 residential projects with immediate effect.
According to the TCP Department, the online building approval system and self-certification process are still under development. Some administrative procedures are also yet to be completed.
Because of this, the government has temporarily stopped accepting and approving all new applications for Stilt+4 residential buildings on residential plots. Officials have also been instructed not to clear any fresh or pending applications until a new order is issued.
The matter came up for hearing on Tuesday in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the case of Sunil Singh vs Haryana Government. Senior Supreme Court advocate Nivedita Sharma represented the petitioner.
Earlier, the High Court had imposed a ban on Stilt+4 construction across Haryana. Later, the court eased the restriction by allowing approvals in other districts while keeping the ban limited to Gurugram.
During the latest hearing before the Acting Chief Justice, the court made it clear that no new Stilt+4 approvals should be granted until further orders. Following this direction, the state government reinstated the restriction across Haryana.
The TCP Department has sent official instructions to the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Urban Local Bodies Department, HSIIDC, Senior Town Planners, District Town Planners, and other concerned departments.
All authorities have been directed to stop issuing new permissions for Stilt+4 buildings until further instructions are received from the government or the court.
The department has also suspended the online application process for Stilt+4 buildings.
Officials have been instructed not to accept any new applications through the online portal. Any further action related to these projects will remain on hold until fresh guidelines are issued.
